Computer Vision for Human-Computer Interaction Lab

The CV-HCI lab is part of the Institute for Anthropomatics of the Department of Computer Science at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. CVHCI has developed state of the art systems for vision-based perception of people, including tracking, gestures, face recognition, head pose estimation and activity recognition. Dr. Stiefelhagen has been deputy scientific coordinator of the EC-sponsored Integrated Project CHIL in FP6. CHIL aimed at building smart services that support human-human interaction in a proactive way.

Videmo GmbH & Co. KG: Videmo was founded in the beginning of 2008 as a spin-off out of the Universität Karlsruhe’s research group Computer vision for HCI (http://isl.ira.uka.de/cvhci/). Videmo develops innovative software for intelligent video analysis, with a focus on applications related to security, customer monitoring and health-care. Application areas of our video analysis software include the automatic analysis of customer behavior, such as tracking the number, frequency and time of stay of customers, their paths and also their direction of gaze and attention. Other applications are the video-based automatic monitoring of point-of-sale systems, including automatic fraud detection, and 3D-tracking of people in indoor and outdoor situations.
